Semantic satiation is a phenomenon whereby the uninterrupted repetition of a word eventually leads to a sense that the word has lost its meaning.
This includes both prolonged viewing of the word and its active repetition (oral or written). This phenomenon occurs primarily when a word or sound loses all of its meaning when repeated multiple times in succession.
