As a designer on the project, I contributed to the design of the UofL Christina Lee Brown Envirome Institute – New Vision of Health Campus in downtown Louisville. This initiative redevelops the 100,000 square foot Harmony Building into a sustainable and culturally integrated landmark dedicated to health as a communal resource.
The campus features a garden, two historic buildings totaling 133,000 SF, and a rooftop designed for events, emphasizing sustainability with a stormwater-filtering living roof. It functions as both a state-of-the-art research center and a community hub for advancing health equity.
Hosting the Envirome Institute as its main tenant, the campus is also prepared for future expansions. The design includes specialized labs and offices to explore the impact of environmental, cultural, and personal factors on health. Equipped with sustainable technologies such as Building Integrated Photovoltaics and LED circadian lighting, the campus aims for LEED Gold certification, pioneering a new standard for healthy urban environments.
